BTS wants to help their fans through the pandemic, and that means putting out new music. The K-pop group will release a new single in August, and it’ll be in English. A full-length album will follow later in 2020.

“We have prepared a new single for ARMY, set for August 21,” BTS said in a press release, according to Pitchfork. “We are preparing an album for the second half of this year, but decided to first release a single because we wanted to reach our fans as soon as possible. Due to COVID-19, people around the world have been going through tough times and we wanted to share some positive energy with our fans.”

The group — which includes members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, RM and Jungkook — noted that an English-language single isn’t new territory for them. They previously found success with “MIC Drop” and Steve Aoki’s “Waste It On Me.” As they recorded, they decided a Korean or Japanese version wasn’t necessary since the English edition “sounded perfect as it is in English.”

“We also needed a breakthrough during these unforeseen times, so we worked on this new song,” they said. “This is a new challenge for us as well. When we first heard and recorded the song, we were energized and our spirits were lifted up. We can’t wait to share this song with you all and enjoy it together.”

Since the pandemic began, BTS has been periodically releasing projects to keep fans entertained. In June, they held what is claimed to be the world’s biggest paid online concert with over 750,000 viewers watching in 104 countries.

BTS then released their last album, “Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey” earlier in July. It was their fourth Japanese-language album and their eighth LP overall.  Their late 2020 effort will be their ninth studio album. They started releasing full-length albums in 2014.

August will bring the new single, and it seems like the boys are planning to stay busy in spite of the pandemic as they promote the new record throughout the rest of the year.
