Mayor Grover Robinson donates salary to help the city with its coronavirus.
Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson is donating his mayor’s salary to help the city with its coronavirus response.
He made the announcement at a news conference today. He’s asked the city to donate the money to Pensacola Energy and sanitation services to help people who are out of work and need help paying their bills.
“This isn’t going to make a tremendous drop in the bucket, but what I want to communicate to you is I’m not afraid. If I was afraid for myself, I would be doing something to retain that, but I’m not going to ask you to lose your salary if I’m not willing to do the same at this particular time,” said Mayor Robinson.
Robinson also says the city will be coming up with a plan over the next two to four weeks to address the economic concerns from COVID-19.
