Cameroon plane under fire, passenger plane attacked during landing.
A passenger plane was attacked at the Bamenda Airport in Cameroon’s troubled English-speaking region of Northwest early Sunday, according to local authorities.
Gunmen fired at the aircraft belonging to state-run Cameroon Airlines Corporation (Camair-Co) as it was landing on the tarmac.
No one was hurt in the attack but the bullets hit the left-wing and pierced through into the cabin of the plane, according to security reports.
“Security forces quickly intervened and repelled the attack,” an army officer who asked not to be named told Xinhua.
Sunday’s attack was the first on a passenger plane since an armed conflict started in the English-speaking regions of Northwest and Southwest in 2017.
