Crystal Wang Harvard police officer Recreates 15-Year-Old Photo.

A freshman at Harvard University recreated a photo with a campus police officer she met when she was just a toddler.

Crystal Wang, 18, said that when she was 3 years old, her father, Jin Wang, visited Boston on a business trip and stopped at Harvard. During the visit, she posed for a picture in the arms of Officer Charles Marren.

She didn’t remember anything about the photo. But then this year, she got accepted to the university.

“My dad then showed me the photo around April before I came to visit Harvard,” Wang told

Wang’s dad said that if she could find the cop in the original picture, that’d be such a cool full-circle moment. But Wang thought the chance of that happening after 15 years was slim.

She announced her acceptance to the school on her Instagram and posted some photos, including the one of her with Marren when she was a child.

Wang said a reporter from the Harvard Gazette reached out to her, saying that she knew the officer and they should recreate the photo.

This fall, they did just that.

“When we reunited, Officer Marren was absolutely amazing and super sweet,” Wang said. “We bonded over the picture and he told me about his life working for the Harvard University Police Department.”

She added: “At the end, he even gave me his personal phone number and said if I ever needed anything, I could ask him directly for help. It was an overall super genuine and heartwarming experience.”
